These are the only hospitals currently offering labor and delivery services on the island. All offer tours to pregnant women and their families.
Castle Medical Center- this friendly, slower paced community hospital is located in Kailua
Pros:
*complete rooming-in offered
*tubs located in each bathroom for laboring (not delivery)
*nurses spend a lot of time with you in labor
*telemetry available (you can walk and have fetal monitoring at the same time)
*Linda Chong-Tim CNM may attend births here
Cons:
*VBAC not offered (vaginal birth after cesarean)
*no NICU on site (babies with problems requiring NICU are transferred to Kapiolani)

Kaiser Hospital-located in Moanalua, this hospital recently renovated its labor and delivery unit. There are also rumors that a midwifery service may be added to their program in the near future.

Kapiolani Center for Women and Children-is a tertiary care center housing the University of Hawaii's OB/GYN residency training program. It has the highest rate of births in the state.

*extremely busy staff typically do not stay with you throughout labor
*baby typically separated from family for observation immediately after delivery

*not all physicians will attend deliveries there
